Grand Prix Fire Animal Rescue
On October 24th, 2003 the Alta Loma Riding Club's Emergency Response Team was activated by the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department to evacuate horses in the Etiwanda, Rancho Cucamonga, and Alta Loma areas. Luckily the ERT had been trained for just such a rescue, all be it we had no idea we would ever be involved in such a large evacuation. Over 24 trucks and trailers were quickly brought into action. And our supplies purchased months ago for just such an evacuation were given to each truck and trailer team. Our main EVAC site, Heritage Park, soon became full and we had to look elsewhere to house our horses. Lucky for us the City of Norco opened up its heart and allowed the ALRC's ERT to evacuate a total of 185 horses to Ingall's Park in Norco.
The ERT needs your help, big or small. If interested in volunteering, you need to take the following steps:
Be a member of the Alta Loma Riding Club.
Complete the ReadyRC volunteer application at https://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/ap?AP=401740201&OR=1
Complete a Department of Justice (DOJ) background check with the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department.
Thank you for your continued support. Please let me know via email (lhenderson25@Charter.net ) or text me at (909) 226-3956 when you have submitted a Volunteer Application so I can monitor the status of the team.
